Benton (Charles W.) Company Clock Shop opens.

Originally The Old Keyhole, it is located initially on Lancaster Street. The shop is purchased by Swedish immigrant Charles Benton in 1898. It later moves to 110 Portland Street and is purchased by Ezio Maestranzi in 1949. It moves to its present location at 230 Friend Street in 1962 and is currently operated by the Maestranzi family.
