Beacon Companies is established.

[1945-BHL] Originally Beacon Construction, it is founded by Norman Leventhal and Robert Leventhal and one other partner. The company initially focuses on remodeling stores before becoming one of the largest real estate developers in the city. The company is subsequently run by Norman Leventhal’s sons and son-in-law. It goes public in 1994, and is sold to Chicago-based Equity Office Properties Trust in 1997.
