Bay State Road area filling continues.

The Riverbank Improvement Company and private owners build a seawall from today’s Deerfield Street to University Road and fill between there and Commonwealth Avenue, creating today’s Bay State Road and Back Street. Most is completed by 1891.  Although many fine homes are subsequently built here, the area is developed just as the demand for such residences begins to wane.
