Back Bay/South End filling continues.

The Boston & Worcester Railroad fills six acres for the Boston Water Power Company bounded approximately by today’s Arlington Street, East Berkeley Street, Cortes Street, and Tremont Street. It is completed in 1848. The Boston Water Power Company fills eleven adjacent acres along Tremont Street as far as today’s Dartmouth Street between 1849 and 1851, creating land where today’s Cyclorama is now located.
