Au Bon Pain is incorporated

Founded by Bostonian Louis Kane, it is subsequently located at 88 Black Falcon Avenue. The company merges with the Cookie Jar Café (founded by Ron Shaich on Winter Street in 1980, goes public in 1991, and expands to some 300 locations by the time it is acquired by JAB Holdings in 2017. It is purchased by Ampex Brands in 2021.
