Ames (Samuel T.) House is built.

Architect: Alfred Bither. One of four contiguous houses built by Samuel Ames, it is located at 27 Hereford Street. Its first occupants are lawyer James Preston and his wife. The building is converted to a two-family home in 1980. Subsequent occupants include landscape architect and community activist Shirley Kressel.
