American Tool and Machine Company building is built.

(ca.) Designed in the Romanesque Revival style, it is located at 1415 Hyde Park Avenue. The largest manufacturing building in Hyde Park at the time, it is part of a complex that includes a foundry built in 1872 and a machinery plant built in 1879. The building subsequently becomes the home of the Hyde Park Gazette.
