Albright (Tenley) is born in Newton.

The daughter of a surgeon, Tenley Albright, grows up in Newton, is stricken with non-paralytic polio at 11, becomes a member of the Boston Skating Club, studies with Maribel Vinson, and wins Olympic medals in 1952* and 1956.* Albright graduates from Radcliffe College and Harvard Medical School, marries Tudor Gardiner in 1961, and becomes a surgeon at New England Baptist Hospital and New England Deaconess Hospital.
