Abraham Lincoln makes his first to Boston

Campaigning for presidential candidate Zachary Taylor, he speaks at a rally in Washington Hall at today’s 31 Bromfield Street. Lincoln spends 13 days in Massachusetts and, while in Boston, stays at the Tremont House. He speaks the next day in Dorchester,* and a week later at a Free Soil Rally at Tremont Temple.*
