Morse (Steve) is born in Boston.

The son of Walter and Marjorie (Pugsley) Morse, he moves with his family to Wellesley, attends his first rock concert (the Rolling Stones at the Manning Bowl in Lynn) in 1966, and graduates from Brown University. Morse serves as the Boston Globe rock music critic from 1978 to 2005, prompting promoter Don Law to subsequently declare, “I think that when the musical world thinks of Boston in terms of a critic, they think of Steve Morse.” A longtime resident of Cambridge, Morse goes on teach at Berklee College of Music. He dies in Lincoln on October 26, 2024.
