Shaw (Sarah-Ann King) is born in Roxbury.

The daughter of Norris and Annie Bell (Bomar) King, Sarah-Ann Shaw graduates from Girls Latin School, attends Boston University, and marries Kwame Shaw in 1955. She becomes head of the Boston chapter of the Northern Student Movement and participates in numerous local campaigns, works for Action for Boston Community Development, and then becomes, according to Liz Walker an “Unapologetically an advocate journalist” after being hired by WBZ-TV in 1969.* A longtime resident of 36 Wenonah Street, Shaw retires in 2000, but continues her community activism. She dies at home on March 21, 2024.
