Loring (Ellis Gray) is born in Boston.
April 14, 1802
Ellis Gray Loring graduates from Boston Latin School, attends Harvard College but is dismissed for disciplinary reasons. He becomes a lawyer in 1827, and goes on to become known for his efforts as an abolitionist and particularly for a victory in a case in 1836.* A resident of 641 Washington Street, Gray becomes a founder of the New England Anti-Slavery Society and Boston Vigilance Committee. He dies in Boston on May 24, 1858.
