Four Seasons Hotel announces it will provide full severance pay to laid off workers.
June 17, 2020
The hotel, which closed on March 24, 2020 due to the coronavirus and plans to reopen on June 23, 2020, had previously laid off nearly half its staff (192 workers) and cited a clause referring to a “national emergency” that allowed them to avoid separation benefits. But protests from staff and patrons prompted the hotel to reverse its decision.
