The words of the song “Fair Harvard” were written written by alumnus Samuel Gilman for the school’s bicentennial in 1836. But in a change promoted by the Presidential Task Force on Inclusion and Belonging, the phrase, “Till the stock of the Puritan die” in the last verse is replaced by “till the stars in the firmament die.” The new wording was submitted by Janet Pascal of the Class of 1984.
