Marijuana possession is legalized in Massachusetts.

November 8, 2016

Massachusetts voters approve a binding referendum question that allows adults 21 and older the right to possess small amounts of marijuana for recreational use. The Governor’s Council subsequently approves a measure that allows possession of up to 10 ounces of marijuana and the sale of marijuana by licensed commercial operations. The first licensed shops open in Leicester and Northampton on November 20, 2018.
