Millennium Tower opens.

(July) Architect: Handel Architects. It is located at 1 Franklin Street (426 Washington Street). The fourth tallest building in the city at the time, the office/ residential/retail complex also includes restoration of the adjacent Burnham Building, formerly the home of Filene’s and Filene’s Basement. Begun initially in 2008, construction is stalled by a downturn in the economy and a groundbreaking for a redesigned project is held on September 17, 2013. For for reasons of superstition, there is no 13th floor or 4th and 44th floors (because in some Chinese dialects, the word “four” sounds like the word “death”)
