Supreme Court rules that Aereo Company violated copyright laws.

June 25, 2014

The court, by a 6 to 3 margin, rules that the company, founded in 2013 and based in New York but with most of its employees in Boston, violated copyright laws by rebroadcasting network television shows without permission and acted illegally by retransmitting shows via tiny rented antennas to its customers’ computers and mobile devices. Aereo declares bankruptcy on November 21, 2014.
