Thirteen candidates are elected to the Boston City Council.

Elected at-large are incumbent Ayanna Pressley (60,799), newcomer Michelle Wu (59,741), former councilor Michael Flaherty (55,104), and incumbent Stephen Murphy (44,993). Incumbents Salvatore Lamatina, William Linehan, Charles Yancey (who had also run for mayor in the preliminary election), Mark Ciommo, Frank Baker, Tito Jackson, and Matt O’Malley are reelected along with newcomers Timothy McCarthy and Josh Zakim are elected to district seats. O’Malley, whose District 6 includes Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury and parts of Mission Hill and Roslindale, receives 18,204 votes, the highest total since district councilors were first elected in 1983. Wu is the first Asian-American woman elected to the council.
