Stephen Lynch is elected to Congress from Massachusetts.

Lynch (D) wins a special election to replace the deceased J. Joseph Moakley in the Eighth Congressional District. Reelected through 2020, Lynch subsequently says of himself, “Calling me the least liberal member from Massachusetts is like calling me the slowest Kenyan in the Boston Marathon It’s all relative.”
