Gerard Dewan, 35, is killed in New York City.

The Roslindale native, who grew up on Wellsmere Road, was a New York City firefighter, and is killed in the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers Dewan’s father and three brothers were also firefighters in Boston and Brookline. A square in his memory is dedicated at the corner of Wellsmere Road and Wellsmere Terrace on April 14, 2018.
