Santa Speedo Run is established.

(Dec.) Founded by Jon Ianelli and four friends, participants dress in Santa Claus bathing suits, and sneakers and run through the shopping district along Newbury Street. It subsequently becomes an annul event and fund-raiser for Play Ball, a nonprofit organization that provides school sporting opportunities for Boston public schools middle school students. Open to anyone 21 or older, the field is now capped at 700 participants who run a one-mile loop along five blocks of Newbury Street and Boylston Street.
