Boston Underground Film Festival is established.

Founded by David Kleiler, it is held initially at the Revolving Museum on A Street. An annual all-night film marathon, programmer Bernard Broginart calls it “A wonderful hoax of a film festival.” The festival is held in various venues in its early years, including the Milky Way Lounge and the Allston Cinema, before settling at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge in 2012
