“The Twelve Tribes of Boston.”

March 31, 1999

(March) Boston. The magazine identifies them as: Brahmin, Irish, Black, Jewish, Euro, Italian, Medical, Techno, Culinary, Gay, Intellectual, and Lost (those who inexplicably move to New York). It then declares, “Because tribalism means that one group often refuses to acknowledge the value of another, it can reduce the city to less than the sum of its extraordinary parts.”
