Favorite Poem Project is launched.

Founded by U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, the national event is held in five cities, including Boston, where it is held at the Boston Public Library. Its purpose is to encourage people to read their favorite poem in a public setting. Anthologies of the poems are subsequently published. The project is now housed at the Boston University School of Education.
