Barr Foundation is established.

Founded by Amos Hostetter Jr. and his wife Barbara, it is located at 2 Atlantic Avenue. Its purpose is “to invest in human, natural, and cultural potential, serving as thoughtful stewards and catalysts.” The organization’s focus is regional and has recently emphasized efforts to improve access to the Boston waterfront and improve resiliency in the face of climate change.
