Flynn (D), with 63,582 votes (74.6%), defeats Boston Teachers’ Union President Edward Doherty(D), with 21,659 (25.4%). Turnout is 89,885 or 39.1%. (88,496-BGL) Flynn becomes the first Boston mayoral candidate in modern history to win every precinct in every ward of the city.
