O’Neill (Thomas P. “Tip” Jr.) Federal Building is built.

Architect: Hugh Stubbins & Associates. Originally the General Services Administration Building, it is located at 10 Causeway Street.  The building consists of an 11-story tower and a five-story tower. It is subsequently renamed for the longtime Congressman and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
