June 14, 1987

The Celtics lose 106-93 to the Lakers in game 6 at the Forum. Earlier, the Celtics had lost 107-106 to the Lakers in game 4 at Boston Garden, when Magic Johnson made a “junior sky hook” shot with two seconds left to win the game on June 9, 1987. The Celtics reached the finals by beating the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference finals, thanks to Larry Bird stealing an in-bound pass by Isiah Thomas and feeding Dennis Johnson to force and overtime that led to a pivotal win in game 5 at Boston Garden on May 26, 1987.
