Drop-a-Dime program is established.

Founded by Rev. Bruce Wall and Georgette Watson, the program establishes an anonymous tip hotline (427-DIME) so that residents can report criminal activity to the police without fear of retribution by criminals. It begins with an all-volunteer staff, one phone and an answering machine and subsequently expands to include three paid staff, volunteers, and additional phone lines.
