Bill Rodgers (2:12:11) and Jacqueline Garreau of Canada (2:34:28) are the winners of the Boston Marathon.

Rosie Ruiz, a Cuban émigré from New York city, is initially declared the women’s winner. She is subsequently disqualified when no evidence can be found of her either starting or participating in the early stages of the race, and after witnesses report seeing her enter the race at Kenmore Square. Garreau is declared the winner in a special ceremony in front of the Prudential Center on April 29, 1980.
