Citywide Parents Council is formed.

October 7, 1974

Created by Judge W. Arthur Garrity, it is comprised of 22 elected parent representatives. Its purpose is to coordinate and assist the new Racial Ethnic Parent Councils at each school to address racial and ethnic problems and promote communication and understanding among parents, students, teachers and administrators. In June 1975, nine Community District Advisory Councils are established to complete a three-tiered structure of school parent participation groups in June 1975.
