R-O-A-R letters are pasted in windows at City Hall

April 28, 1974

Posted in the windows of the offices of Boston City Councilors Louise Day Hicks and Albert “Dapper” O’Neil, the large, white letters spell the acronym of the militant antibusing organization Restore Our Alienated Rights. Despite complaints by some residents, a judge refuses to order the removal of the letters. The windows are broken a number of times by vandals, including once on May 19, 1975.
