Lee (Joseph E.) School opens.

Architect: Richmond & Goldberg. Named for the “Father of the American Playground,” philanthropist, and Boston School Committee member, it is located at 155 Talbot Avenue. Built for 1,100 students, the school was originally intended to promote steps toward conforming with provisions of the Massachusetts Racial Imbalance Law.
