White (Eva Whiting) public housing development opens.

(March) [July] Originally the Castle Square housing development, the two-building complex is located at 440 – 440 Tremont Street. It is subsequently renamed for the first recipient of a social work degree from Simmons College, who went on to become the head worker of the Elizabeth Peabody House and of the Women’s Education and Industrial Union.
