Little City Hall program begins.

July 25, 1968

The first of the new offices is located in a 50-foot trailer parked in Maverick Square. Modeled after a program in New York City, the satellite municipal offices are designed, according to Mayor Kevin White, to “bring government closer to the people.” Eighteen sites are subsequently opened by 1972. Budget cuts and policy changes lead to the closure of the last 14 of the Little City Halls on June 16, 1981.
