Produced by Ray Richardson, the news and current affairs show focuses on subjects of interest to the Boston African-American community. It is initially hosted by James Spruill. Sarah-Ann Shaw is one of the reporters. It becomes a nationally-syndicated show for a time, beginning in 1975, assumes the name Basic Black in 1998, and subsequently adopts a talk show format. The longest running public television show focusing on people of color, it continues until 2024.
