Young man leaps from a building after taking LSD.
February 23, 1968
Charles K. Monigan, a 20-year-old deaf mute from East Boston, leaps from a fourth-story window of a building on Myrtle Street after taking the drug. After being treated for his injuries at Massachusetts General Hospital and arrested for drug possession by Boston police, he is brought before Boston Municipal Court Judge Elijah Adlow. Adlow finds Monigan guilty and tells him, “It is bad enough to be a deaf mute, but it is worse to be a drug addict,” on February 26, 1968.
