Demonstration is held to to protest U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

October 16, 1965

Some 3,000 people march from Harvard Square and Boston University to Boston Common. In the first large demonstration in Boston against U.S. involvement in Vietnam, most of the marchers are college students. When they reach Boston Common, they are met by a smaller group of counter-demonstrators, who jeer at and heckle them.
