Planned meeting between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Boston School Committee is canceled.

After being informed by school committee member Louise Day Hicks that local civil rights leaders would be allowed to attend the meeting but not allowed to speak, Rev. Virgil Wood, chairman of the Massachusetts Southern Christian Leadership Movement, cancels the meeting.
