Edward “Teddy” Deegan is shot and killed in an alley in Chelsea.

The alleged gangster is the latest victim of what local newspapers call a series of “gangland murders.” Joseph “The Animal” Barboza subsequently confesses to the murder, but also testifies that Jimmy “The Bear” Flemmi and others were involved and they are convicted of the crime in 1968.*
