The Celtics beat the Hawks 97-84 in Kiel Auditorium, as Willie Naulls fills in for the injured Tom Heinsohn in the starting lineup. When he joins regulars Sam and K.C. Jones, Bill Russell, and Tom Sanders, the Celtics become the first team in the National Basketball Association with five African-American players in the starting lineup.
