Roxbury residents begin a rent strike.

In one of the first rent strikes of the era, 21 families on Waumbeck Street, Leyland Street, and Warren Street, supported by the Boston chapter of CORE, engage in the rent strike against Joel Rubin of Mark Realty, whose buildings contained numerous housing code violations.
