Boston Celtics tour the White House in Washington, D.C.

In town to play the Cincinnati Royals at College Park, Maryland, nine players and Red Auerbach are given of the tour of the building, after which they have a surprise meeting with President John F. Kennedy. After shaking the president’s hand, a nervous 24-year-old Tom “Satch” Sanders tells the president, “Take it easy, baby,” prompting the president to break out in laughter.
