Historic Boston, Inc. is established.

Its initial purpose is to preserve the Old Corner bookstore. The organization goes on to use historic preservation to promote economic development in neighborhood commercial centers throughout the city and becomes a non-profit developer in 1979. It is currently located at 283 Washington Street.
