Bob the Chef’s opens.

1957

Originally a “soul food” counter operated by Robert and Dottie Morgan in Morely’s nightclub at 408 Massachusetts Avenue, it becomes a full-fledged, Southern style restaurant and moves to 604 Columbus Avenue in 1968. Purchased by Darryl Settles in 1990, it becomes Bob the Chef’s Jazz Cafe in 1996, then Bob’s Southern Bistro in May 2005. After closing temporarily on November 26, 2007, it subsequently reopens as Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen. The restaurant is purchased by Nia Grace in 2018.
