Tony DeMarco loses the world welterweight boxing championship in Syracuse, New York.

DeMarco loses the title he held for only two months, when he is beaten in a rematch by Carmen Basilio in a fight in Syracuse, New York. He loses to Basilio again at Boston Garden on November 30, 1955. Both losses are by TKOs in the 12th round and both fights are said to be among greatest in boxing history.
