Frank Fallon becomes the first public address announcer for the Boston Red Sox.

Fallon is succeeded by Fred Cusick (1956), and Jay McMaster (1958). Sherm Feller becomes the announcer in 1967 and introduces his trademark opening line: “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to Fenway Park.” He is succeeded by Leslie Sterling, the second woman PA announced in major league baseball (1994), Ed Brickley (1997), Carl Beane (2002) and multiple announces beginning in 2012.
