John Hynes is reelected mayor of Boston.

Hynes (D), with 154,206 votes (66.9%), once again defeats James Michael Curley (D), with 76,354 (33.1%), to win his second consecutive term in office. Turnout is 238,156 or 61.4%. Curley had suspended his campaign after qualifying in the preliminary election. Hynes is inaugurated in Symphony Hall on January 7, 1952.
