St. John the Baptist Albanian Orthodox Church moves to South Boston.

1948

The congregation meets in the former St. Matthew’s Church at 410 West Broadway. Founded on December 16, 1834, it met initially at Paine Hall on Appleton Street and then at the Charles Street Meeting House. Dhosi Kotundi was the first pastor. The congregation became Albanian Orthodox in the 1930s. The building is destroyed by a fire on August 21, 2013, and replaced by a new building in 2017.*
