Its studios are subsequently located at 90 Warren Street. Originally an AM classical music station, it is purchased by Sheridan Broadcasting and switches to a format described as “Black Top 40.” Sonny Joe White is the program director. Called “The Voice of the Black community,” it becomes the first African-American-owned radio station in Boston wen it is purchased by Nash Communications in 1980, The station is purchased by Radio One, Inc. in 2000, then by other companies, and and undergoes a number of programming changes.
